Bursa Chief Information Officer Resigned

Posted By Fred Chan

News Alert Date : 19 July 2008

It was reported that Yew Kim Keong, Bursa’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) has resigned.

Yew was reported to have resigned on his own accord following a system wide technical failure in Bursa’s Equity Trading system that caused a full day without trading on 3 July 2008.

His resignation will take effect from 31 July 2008.

Bursa’s Head of IT Development and Services, Ang Ting Kang, has been appointed acting CIO.

Will there be more ?

One question should be ask is why did Bursa’s Disaster Recovery System failed eventhough Bursa hold 4 testing annually. Could it be that Bursa’s  Business Continuity Plan was not complete?

Could it be that when Bursa hold Disaster Recovery exercise, Bursa did recovery for all system (example: equity and futures) and not on recovering only one system?

All these questions will only be known to Bursa.
